Due Date

Today was my official due date. It's so hard to believe that this little newborn I've been taking care of the last two weeks should technically not even be here until today. I'm already completely and totally attached to her and can't imagine her not being a part of our family. She really has just fit right in. Here are a couple more pics of our new little angel...

One Week Old

Sisters

I really do hope to write more soon about the delivery and our first two weeks home. Right now, I'm just trying to use any rare moments that I'm not holding or feeding Josie to spend some time with Ellie. She is a great big sister but is definitely putting up a fight for Mommy and Daddy time!

8 lbs 6 ozs, 20.5"

Just a quick post to introduce you to our sweet little Josie. The delivery went perfect and the recovery is slowing coming along. It is nice to be home and I LOVE having a newborn in the house again. Ellie is being a wonderful big sister too! I apologize for taking so long to post and as soon as I have more than just a few minutes, I will write tons more. I really am on cloud nine and can't wait to share everything! Life is good... :)

Today's the Day!

So it's 5:20 AM on Tuesday and I have not slept one single wink. Today is the day I will finally meet our new baby girl! It's been a roller coaster ride the last few weeks so to just finally hold a healthy baby in my arms will be the most wonderful thing I can imagine. I should be coming home on Friday so I will be sure to post all the details shortly after. See you soon!
Oh yeah, and as of right now (less than 4 hours from delivery), we still do not have a name picked out... We have a few ideas but nothing agreed upon yet. Hopefully when we see her, we'll just know the right one. Wish us luck with that... :)

So far so good...

The appointment on Monday went fantastic! The baby passed the non-stress test with flying colors. :) The doctor checked me and I was not dilated at all...hurray! She did say that the baby was really low and that I was 50% effaced already but that doesn't necessarily mean labor is imminent. She even somewhat took me off of bed rest! I am still supposed to limit my walking as much as possible, still no lifting (including Ellie), just nothing strenuous what so ever. It still stinks because I had a lot of pre-baby things planned to do with Ellie that do require a lot of walking that I still won't be able to do, but that's okay. I'll just have to come up with other fun things for us to do at home together. I really want to cherish our last couple of weeks together before little sister turns her world up-side-down. But at least it is looking hopeful that I will make it to my scheduled delivery date. I have another appointment tomorrow and if it goes well, my next one won't be until next Thursday. Every time I go now, Ellie asks me if the doctor is going to take the baby out. When I came home on Monday she asked "Mommy, where's the baby?", fully expecting me to have just had the baby even though I was gone for just an hour and a half! If it could only be that easy... :)

Quick Update

So I'm almost 35 weeks and by the way the things have been going, I'm not sure I am even going to make it my scheduled C-section at 38 weeks! Last Tuesday I had some bright red spotting for about 5 hours that gradually turned to brown. I talked with the doctor 3 times that evening and we decided that since it was just spotting and not very heavy that she would just see me in the morning. At the appt. Wed, she checked my cervix (still closed) and did an ultrasound to check for placenta previa or abruption (no signs of either). She listened to the baby's heartbeat and we also saw her on the ultrasound and since she was showing no signs of distress, I was sent home and put on bed rest. Bed rest is impossible with a 2 year old but I have been doing my best. My husband is helping as much as he can and has pretty much done everything now that it is the weekend. I have still been spotting brown everyday since but the doctor says that brown is okay. If it turns red again or I have any pain or contractions, then I'm supposed to call right away.
Then just today, I lost my mucus plug. I called the doctor again and she assured me that this can happen weeks before you go into labor, but from what I have been reading, it usually happens within a couple of days before labor starts. I never lost it at all with my first pregnancy so I was quite surprised when it happened!
So now I feel like it could literally be any moment that I go into labor and this waiting and not knowing is killing me! I have been reassured that a baby born at 35 weeks should be just fine- they may just have to spend a little time in NICU to monitor breathing and to learn how to eat.
I go tomorrow for another appt. and they will also be doing a non-stress test. I really want to make it until 38 weeks so wish me luck!
