6 weeks

I had my first doctor's appointment on Wednesday. It was actually just with a nurse and was called a counseling session. With my last pregnancy, the doctor didn't see me for the first time until I was 10 weeks along so this appointment was kind of nice. The nurse met with me in a private board room like room and we just set at the table and talked about a lot of different things. We covered my entire medical history and the history of my last pregnancy and birth. We then went over everything to expect with this pregnancy and then over what appointments will be coming up and also everything about the doctor and even about the hospital I'll be delivering at. She also gave me a whole bag full of books and pamphlets to take home including 2 really thick books called "Your Pregnancy & Birth" and "Your Baby's First Year". Also included was a really neat magazine called "As Your Baby Grows from Conception to Birth" which is full of actual pictures (taken with a microscopic camera) of what your baby looks like at each month of development plus all kinds of information. It's really cool and I'm going to try and remember to post a new pic each month from it. Overall, the appointment lasted a little over an hour and so I am already really impressed with this doctor's office and the amount of time they spend to actually get to know you before you even have your first real doctor's appointment. As I left, we scheduled my first ultrasound for Feb 1st (I'll be 8 weeks) and my first

Big Sis

Now, I can’t have a blog without dedicating one of my first posts to the Big Sister-to-Be. Our wonderful daughter was born on December 28th 2004, thirty hours after the first contraction, via caesarian section. We named her Elizabeth Arin (

Happy New Year
So I decided to finally start one of these...mainly because I have a feeling this is going to be a great year! It couldn't have started out any better. On New Years Day, we got a positive pregnancy test! Baby number two is on it's way! This couldn't have made my husband and I any happier, although we were pretty surprised that it happened this easily again. Our first daughter, Ellie, was conceived on the very first try and, as luck would have it, so was this baby! How did we end up with such good fortune?! As happy as I am, it is a little hard to accept how easy it was for us when I know the same is not true for many others I know. I have been reading blogs now for quite awhile of women who are unable to conceive or must wait to conceive for various reasons and my heart goes out to them. I also have very dear friends and a family member who have had trouble conceiving or suffered miscarriages recently and so I haven't even broken the news to them yet...I feel bad for being so happy about my pregnancy when they would give anything to be pregnant too. But I AM happy!!! I can't help it! I can't wait to experience pregnancy again, to hold a newborn again and, most of all, to see Ellie get to be a big sister... She is the light of my world and I can't even imagine how my love can grow any stronger for HER let alone the new baby. I can't wait to find out! Here we go again...
